With deep disappointment, the Connecticut Morgan Horse Association (CMHA) has decided not to offer carriage and dressage in its traditional format for the 2021 edition of the show.  Although this was a difficult decision, we are excited to welcome carriage drivers to participate in our first Parade of the Carriages to showcase the Morgan Horse's versatility.  We look forward to providing our carriage and dressage exhibitors with a new and innovative experience for the 2022 edition of the Connecticut Morgan Open Horse Show that will better highlight the Morgan breed, its versatility, and history.

Additionally, CMHA is exploring ways to engage with working horse exhibitors throughout the year.  If you would like to get involved in planning our carriage or dressage events, please feel free to contact us.

Be sure to check out our free virtual practice youth contests on Facebook (Connecticut Morgan Horse Association Youth) for opportunities to brush up on your skills or try them out for the first time. Open to kids of all ages!

Virtual Stick Horse Class: We are hosting a virtual stick horse class for the young and young at heart. You do not need to be a member to participate. Rules, guidelines for your "class" and entry submission are available at: https://bit.ly/VirtualStickHorse. All entries are due by June 15th and we will have prizes!

Virtual Dog Show: We all know horse people love their dogs - and we want to see your dog at it’s best! You do not need to be a member to participate. We’ll be offering some fun prizes and bragging rights to the winner in each division. We have adult and youth divisions - for live dogs and stuffed animals (youth only). There is also a trick or agility class. Information and entry form: https://bit.ly/VirtualDogShow. All entries are due by June 22nd.

You do not need to be a member of our club to participate in any of these virtual events and we encourage you to become involved and enjoy your horse.

Connecticut Morgan Horse Association members who have access to their horses should sign up for Morgan Time. The fee is $5 and you track the time spent with your horse from May through October. Morgan Time participants with the most hours receive a year-end award and there are cumulative awards when you reach milestones.

We will be announcing other programs throughout the year. Connecticut Morgan Horse Association has served our members for over 60 years and are pleased to bring these new events to our members and other equestrians. Visit ctmorgans.org or our Facebook and Instagram pages for more information.

It is with deep disappointment that the Connecticut Morgan Horse Association (CMHA) has announced the cancellation of the 60th Anniversary Connecticut Morgan Open Horse Show scheduled for June 3-6, 2020. We believe that given the current circumstances this decision is in the best interest of our exhibitors, trainers, vendors, and spectators.

In the upcoming weeks, CMHA will be exploring alternative events to help celebrate our 60th anniversary. Please visit us on Facebook to stay updated on upcoming events.

The well-being and health of the entire community is of the utmost importance during this period. CMHA encourages all of those involved to follow local, state, and national guidelines. The Connecticut Morgan Horse Association eagerly awaits the celebration of its 60th anniversary of the show in 2021. Please plan to join us June 2-5, 2021!

Our person of the year is no stranger to the Morgan world. This person has been an active owner, enthusiast, supporter, and horse show mom for many years. This person has served the Morgan horse industry in various capacities, always giving their time and energy to help strengthen the breed, our shows, and youth programs.

This person joined the CMHA board of directors a couple of years ago, and quickly assumed leadership roles to help grow our club and support our on going activities. This person has been instrumental in helping launch our new website, and transition to a new platform, while saving all of our historical information from the old platform. For any of you that have visited our website in the previous few years, you know how rough it was, and how much we needed a new one! This person has given hundreds of hours of their own time to work with our webmaster and get a new website built and launched.

For the past two years, this person has organized our points tabulations and year-end awards. This person’s creativity and negotiation skills have helped us acquire nice year-end awards, while keeping the many different parts of our points system straight. Please join me in thanking Colleen Tondalo, our 2019 person of the year, for her outstanding contributions to Connecticut Morgan Horse Association.
